Philosophy Slam Still philosophizing after all these years.

I just got a semi-nasty phone call from one of the department secretaries, demanding to know if I'd gotten her e-mail. I said not yet but asked when she sent it, because I hadn't checked my mail in some hours. She skipped the "when" question and said that when I changed my e-mail address, I needed to let them all know.

1. I changed my e-mail months ago, when it became clear that my standard yahoo was defunct.
2. I e-mailed every department secretary of this change. Individually. With explanation.
3. Months ago.
4. I have been receiving, and replying to, e-mail at this new address all during those months.
5. In fact, she and I had a long back and forth conversation via e-mail over the holidays.
6. She just called AGAIN-- about 7 minutes after the first call-- to ask when I was meeting with the writing director (this is what the previous exchange was about).
7. I HAD JUST E-MAILED HIM. Probably 6 minutes ago. No reply yet, perhaps needless to say.
8. This secretary is usually nice. I now feel like scum.
9. She informed me that I should switch from my yahoo account to our school system, which I hate.
10. NO.

So that's a rollicking good start for the new year here. Kinda makes me want to pack up and leave, now. This meeting with the writing director, for one thing-- he always makes me feel a few degrees lower than whatever he's scraped off the bottom of his shoe. Yes, I know-- and have been told-- that he makes others feel this way, but that doesn't really seem to make a difference.

Such a joy to be back.
