I'll be doing the boring blah-blah lecture thing for the first "real" class day, then we'll be watching and discussing clips from those three films (character, setting, all that good stuff). This is my first experience with Tuesday-Thursday teaching, and I'm paranoid that I won't be able to fill up the whole period.
Alice (no pretense at a transition here) is currently wailing at the back door. A neighbor stopped by to say hi, and Alice escaped and darted under my car. This is how I ended up lying on the pavement in not-publicly-presentable gym shorts and a ten-year-old camp tee shirt. Of course, neighbors that I hadn't met yet pulled up, so I was forced to make my introductions from a vantage point under my rear bumper. Alice is now having outdoor separation anxiety. I have a feeling that a lot of the outdoors (namely, bugs) came in while the door was open, guaranteeing that I'll have squashed bug carcasses (thank you, Alice) to clean up for days.
That's about all for this evening. No grand finale here.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
