Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.

As if existence isn't surreal enough on a normal day, there was an unknown bagpiper playing in the courtyard of my apartment building. He didn't seem to live here; I got the impression that he was more of a wandering minstrel. From my vantage point on the balcony, I could not see if he was
"A thing of shreds and patches,
Of ballads, songs and snatches,
And dreamy lullaby!" [that's for all you Gilbert and Sullivan fans]
However, he was certainly odd, and his rendition of "Amazing Grace" was only fair.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
