Still philosophizing after all these years.

Hmm. I notice that, after being down for several hours yesterday morning, blogger still gives me the "unable to load template file" error. They promise that "we're working on this," but my pessimism makes me dubious.
Anyway. Tropical storms and such appear to have cast their shadow over The City; it's darkish and cloudy, though not yet raining (my guess would be that it's saving up until I have to walk to class). I hear faint rumblings, but I can't usually distinguish thunder from the various construction noises (they're building a new hospital-speciality building-- blanking out on the noun I need-- institute across the street).
In other news: I've been enjoying the neighbors on either side of me. The froggie doormat guy is antisocial and apparently friendless (hence, quiet), and the apartment on my other side was unoccupied (though someone was clearly paying rent for it; he just wasn't in residence). Saturday, though, a guy came into occupy the empty one, bringing with him loud clanking objects and noisy, ignorant-sounding friends. He and said friends like to stand in the hall (with its wonderful acoustics) and have top-volume conversations consisting mainly of "man" and "dude." Yesterday, his beeping alarm sounded for an hour (at which point auto-shutoff apparently kicked in). He just doesn't know who he's messing with, now does he? The Wicked Witch of the South is not afraid to put her cloven foot down . . .

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
