Modernism est fini for the day, whoo-hoo. So, and hour and ten minutes after class actually ended, I'm back in my apartment, contemplating doing BUTT-NOTHING for the rest of the day. Ooooooh yeah. I theory, I'd try to do some reading, but after sleeping 4 hours last night, the ol' brain isn't up for it (not like it usually is). I'm beginning to realize that modernism is the class I'm neglecting (and there's always one of those, isn't there?), and that's going to have to stop. We finished Conrad today, so I'm pledging turning over a new leaf for next week. Of course, I have two talks and a meeting to go to, so we'll see how that works out. But I do have plans for tomorrow (yay!), so at least I won't feel like a total hermit this weekend. Just a mostly-hermit.
Anyway. Class was exhausting. The level of discussion in that course is way above Victorian and Southern, though I'm not sure why. I think it's the people in it. I can't tell how much of what one person in particular is saying is actually worthwhile, versus what I could tune out with no great loss. By that last 45 minutes, it's all tuned out (and I'm trying not to yawn visibly), so it's all the same in the end.
Plans for tonight: Cleaning apartment.
Plans for right now: Lying flat on my aching back on this oh-so-comfortable futon until I can muster enough energy to eat.
If you'll excuse me, then, I have work to do.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
