Their first response is due tomorrow. They've been so good about talking up to this point, and since good talkers are often not good writers, I'm a little afraid to see what they turn in. I'm in meetings at least until 5:00 tomorrow, so I hope that I'll be able to steal the time to make a decent headway in grading those suckers. One of the meetings tomorrow is with the faculty writing dude (I forgot his actual title and don't feel like putting effort into remembering), so I have to prepare to be positive, upbeat, and generally chipper about students for that. In other words, it's time to be fakeola.
The professor trend continues: I've gotten several e-mails from students (mainly involving tomorrow's assignment), all of which address me as "professor." Am I really that scary?
Seminars were tolerable today, though I somehow managed to misunderstand the syllabus and do more than I actually had to for one class. Bleah. The first seminar is kind of touchy-feely, "let's talk about your feelings," whereas the second seminar involves margaritas and the proclamation that we should all be sleeping with each other. Oh, and the prof stated that he tended to use Foucault as a primer rather than as a theoretician. Needless to say, I'm exhausted by the time the second one ends.
Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
