Still philosophizing after all these years.

It's good to be back. My internet was down and out all of yesterday, so, needless to say, I required life support by about 5 PM.
In breaking news since that time: For Halloween, I, well, studied, since modernism was cancelled (and we get to meet TWICE next week to make it up, oh joy). Then I went over to a fellow classmate's apartment to watch TV for a disgracefully long time (everyone needs time to put the brain on hold), then to a party at a friend of a friend's house. We stayed over there a few hours and then headed on home a bit after midnight to collapse, true grad-student style. I didn't know anyone at the party except for the grad students, though I'd met a few of the friends-of-friend before at a bar.
Last night, I capped off the studying (and pathetic longing for internet) by going to see a, for lack of a better description, a modern dance troupe (which isn't really accurate), The Second Hand , soon to be renamed Galumpha. Go to the website, look at "our pieces" to see some pictures; it's the best way to see what they're about. Some of the pieces are very comic, all are very good. One of my classmates had seen them before (they originate from near her hometown) and suggested going, and I'm glad she did, because I didn't even know about it. Student tickets were $5, another plus, though the kids here didn't turn out in large numbers for the performance, I noticed.
That's really about it. I don't have any other weekend plans except buckling down and doing some serious reading. Having four classes instead of three next week, one of them being all-theory, is not fun. I also have a presentation/discussion moderation Wednesday, so start praying now.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
