Still philosophizing after all these years.

Mystery solved: Around 4:00, I got a major headache. I thought at first that it might be related to Wallace (and I do think the allergy problems are related to a mold-like substance on one of my library books), but Tylenol didn't help. I was nosing in the refrigerator for something else about 45 minutes later and noticed that my diet root beer is, in fact, caffeine-free (I had never had one of these before). So I got and drank a Diet Dr. Pepper, and the headache disappears. Man, I hate those drug withdrawl symptoms.
Back to Victorian lit, the only thing I've done all weekend. Fortunately, there's no modernism this week, though it's going to make next week horrid when we make up the missed class. But I think I'll live for the moment.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
