I Hope There Are TV Ads.
How can a company manufacture a Jesus doll (among others) and not expect (pardon the joke here) all hell to break loose?
I take it these people didn't learn anything from the Barbie Liberation Project. [rtmark, which has a link over on the right of this page, was behind this original movement).
I want a Talking Elmo Moses.
Or, better yet, a Jesus that chirps, "Let's go shopping!" Then it'll be a divine command that I go buy things, so how could I say no?
As Dylan so wisely put it in "Highway 61 Revisited":
Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son" Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on" God say, "No." Abe say, "What?" God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but The next time you see me comin' you better run" Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?" God says, "Out on Highway 61."
Jesus, Dylan, and Kierkegaard. I can hardly wait for the divine edict to go buy shoes!

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
