Take A Bite out of Crime
. . . and don't steal from your local library (or "liberry," if local = in my general area). Yesterday alone I calculated approximately $500 worth of missing books (several expensive volumes were involved), and I haven't tallied up all the books whose status I've changed to missing.
Other joys du jour include wrangling with my insurance company regarding my claim for the impatient services I had starting December 8. Needless to say, there's quite a sum of money involved. They wanted information about my secondary insurance (because I'm still a student, I'm covered under the family insurance until I turn 25 in April), blah blah blah. The woman I spoke to on the phone assures me that someone will pay the charges, one way or the other.
I started work at the end of a pay period and only had a few hours under my belt when accounting time rolled around, so I got my first paycheck today for somethign in the neighborhood of $68. Yippie! I'm rich!
Reading: still Auschwitz Listening: still Best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (I'll change the CD in my car one of these days)
Current Obsession: how does one go about sneaking a several-thousand page, dictionary-sized volume out of the library, unnoticed?
Alice: will soon have a Chanel collar, thanks to my unbelievably lucrative job.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
