Miracles Do Happen
A library patron was . . . was . . . nice to me today. This is unprecedented (particularly after yesterday, which was apparently Rude People Day at the library). I hardly knew how to handle it. I may have kissed the guy; I'm not sure.
Yesterday: I won't even get into the internet incident, but I did compose an extremely choice special message to apply as a block on her card. Let that chick try to touch a computer again. bwahahahahaha
Oh, and an old lady threw money at me because she wasn't happy with the performance of our copy machine, and apparently it was my fault. Getting things flung at oneself by the elderly does tend to take one aback a bit.
In other news, my brother is sick, apparently a victim of the same stomach virus that took my dad out a week or so ago. It's quick onset and nasty. Everyone I work with at the front desk with ONE exception has had to take sick days because of all that's going around. We've had flu, assorted viruses (one still unidentified, pending a referral to another doctor), stomach viruses, bad colds, you name it. Germ warfare has arrived, and it's not pretty.
Add to the fact that everyone I work with is sick (and that 1/2 of the people I live with currently are or have been ill, apparently with the same virus) allllll those people whose books, cards, papers, money, etc. I handle every day. We keep hand sanitizer up front and are sanitizing the phones (which the patrons also use) several times a day, but there's only so much we can do. Imagine how many germs schoolkids alone are bringing in.
I'm resigned to getting sick, I think. Since the infections of January of last year and especially since meningitis at the beginning of the summer, my immune system is shot. I don't stand a chance against a seven-year-old with a stomach virus who hands me the book he just sneezed on.
In the meantime, all I have is a mouthful of ulcers (why? no idea) and the usual acid reflux (am I not a bit young for that?).
I'm finished with my litany of physical complaints now. I hope that all out there in the cyperworld enjoyed the scintillating news of my mouth ulcers. As a little bonus info for you faithful readers, I'll add that I'm treating them with Peroxyl.
Hey, if I were Paris Hilton, then my ulcers and reflux would make the news.
Sigh.
Gotta work on that whole rich and famous thing. Maybe if I dye my hair blonde?

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
