Please Don't Take My Week off Away
I don't want to go back to my classes, either the ones I attend or the one I teach. Parallel complaint: I don't want to write papers, and I don't want to grade papers.
Maybe if I crawl under the futon, no one will be able to find me. Of course, I'd have to clean out from under the futon first, and that might be problematic. The floor down there is serving as a temporary filing system for slave narratives, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and postcolonial theory.
My bed's too low to hide under (especially with my huge fat holiday-binging butt), and my closet is too full. So maybe I should just pack my bags and run away.
So if someone could just e-mail me and offer me free room and board, we're good to go.
In non-whining news: Toaster called me to tell me about this, which may possibly be the most disgusting food item I've ever seen. Note the not one, not two, not three, but four meats involved.
Eeew.
Reading: film stuff, mostly about D.W. Griffith (specifically, The Birth of a Nation this evening)
Listening:What Not to Wear rerun
Current Obsession: blasted allergies. doesn't the pollen have to go away at some point???
Alice: has been hysterically watching squirrels and birds all day. I'm afraid that one day I'll come home, and there will be nothing left but a little circle of fur where she used to be. Feline spontaneous combustion, induced by wildlife.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
