These Boots Were Made for Walkin'
And I've walked on back to school territory. Before leaving town, I stopped by at my former place of work, the publick liberry, to see the people there. A whine-fest about the horror that is our little town ensued, and one individual proposed that we should award medals to "people like us" who manage to grow up and survive the town. Personally, after enduring 18 years of social ostricization, physical and mental torment, and general all-around misery, I think I've earned it.
Speaking of medals, I flipped on the Olympics for the first time last night. I saw (well, I didn't see, exactly, since I was also reading at the time; vive multi-tasking!) part of the gymnastics competition. I watched enough to realize that I was hoping that the Russian, who had some serious Attitude, would win the gold. She was no shrinking violet, and I admired that.
So, even as I type this, the CIA is coming 'round to arrest me for this violation of the Patriot Act: Olympics disloyalty.
I'm sure there's a clause about that in there somewhere.
Have I mentioned that I'm not in favor of the Patriot Act?
Yeah, I thought so.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
