Cliffhanger! And Flying Pests! And Whatever Else Pops into My Head!
A&E is showing Crossing Jordan reruns at 10 PM CST Monday through Thursday. Tonight was a part 1 of 2, thus leaving me hanging until next week. And (yet more tragically) they're showing some talking animal movie Monday, so part 2 is postponed until Tuesday.
You might think that the above is the beginning of a post. I suppose you could call it that-- or you might call it Elvisette now using her blog as a TV reminder.
I've made decent comps reading progress these past few days, so, needless to say, I'm waiting for the other foot to drop. My cognitive behavioral therapist called this "negative sorting." It's probably more than a little hackneyed to call it realism, but it's also a little too close to my bedtime for me to be more creative.
Okay. I should whine at least a leetle bit less than usual. So, stuff that would make the CBT happy: it's hot as the blazes out here during the day, and I think that the air is actually dripping moisture. This evening, though, it cooled down as the sun neared evening. I hauled Thornton Wilder outside, kicked back in my lounge chair, lit up my mosquito lantern (yeah, probably doing all sorts of irreparable harm to the ozone and ecosystem, but I don't like things that suck my blood), and had a nice reading session. Alice, inside, went spastic. I left the patio door cracked so that she could sniff outside (she loves that), and she continued in her ongoing effort to hook her paw around the door and push it open. She's got the technique absolutely right, down to "grasping" the edge of the door, so it's a good thing she's not any stronger. She then hopped up in a kitchen barstool and, in one of my other favorite tricks, started pawing at the door's handle. [note: I have witnesses for this behavior, which occurs often, as in every time I'm outside] She paced back and forth and tried to look neglected. Eventually, she hopped up on the kitchen counter, which she knows full well she's not allowed to do, and looked at me meaningfully. I'm being taunted by my cat, in other words.
That would be the same cat who's now rolling over in the floor and looking unloved. If you'll excuse me, I think it's time for my shift on Alice Attention Duty.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
