Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.
Wednesday, April 07, 2004
Normally, my Outlook inbox is spam-free, but I seem to be on the mass-mailing lists of two people (with difficulty, I'm resisting the urge to print their names here). I finally got around to blocking them (I'm lazy. so sue me), but not before I got this rather entertaining gem today:
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq.
Why don't we just give them ours?
It was written by a lot of really smart guys,
it's worked for over 200 years, and
hell, we're not using it anymore.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
