Or not. I've been doing my reading for romanticism, slowly and not so surely. I'm not back in the swing of things yet. One article was a study of rhetoric; one was a 1924 article in poor translation from the German; the last is Hume. The Hume I did last semester (and wrote a paper on), so at least I know what's going on there. We've also got a handful of Wordsworth poems, which I've been reading and re-reading. The good part about the reading for this class is that we're sticking to Wordsworth, Coleridge, Blake. I'll miss Shelley and Keats (not Byron), but I'm glad we're just going to focus on three; all of this stuff gets more dense as I go on. It's amazing how my opinions and interpretations of Wordsworth have changed over five or six years, but that's boring and no one cares, so I'll just move onto the other excitement of my day.
Um. My new issue of Granta came, yay! It's a definite luxury at its subscription price, but it's well worth it. Of course, the stuff in it is good, and on a practical level, it's good to have short pieces to read when I have (or need) some downtime.
I WD-40'd all my door hinges. I'm sure all the neighbors thank me. The screeching had probably given them the impression that this apartment is inhabited by a soprano Valkyrie.
Classes begin tomorrow. I would have had my first class today, but this week's meeting was rescheduled for Friday. Thursday is going to be my killer day, so wish me luck . . .

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
