Still philosophizing after all these years.

It's snowing, possibly mixed with rain or ice (I can hear it falling). It's too dark in the courtyard to be able to see exactly what's going on, but there's definitely white stuff on the ground. Tomorrow's low is 3, with wind chills in the negative single digits. For my walks to and from class, current predicted wind chill is 3. If I go out for Thursday night fun, the wind chill will be zero.
I wonder if it would be considered unprofessional to take my fleece blanket to class. As it stands, I'm sleeping under: flannel sheet, heavy comforter, fleece blanket #1, and fleece blanket #2. I'm strongly considering adding my light comforter to the mix. I hate to turn the heat up any higher, but if I add anything else to my pajama ensemble, I'll be able to roll from room to room by dint of sheer bulk. It's also rather difficult to move when under all those blankets. I haven't been colder at night since I slept in a high-ceilinged, wooden-floored old apartment in Illinois. I was on an antique futon, it was freezing outside, and my host had "warmed up" the apartment to 65, since I was unused to the cold. He gave me regular bedding, plus 3 wool blankets. I used all three. I was entirely paralyzed by the weight (I flop all night-- "flail," in my college roommate's words-- so I'm very aware of these things). And still cold. I'm a bit nostalgic for those blankets, at the moment.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
