The bad news: I awaken to complete GOP control.
The good news: The Southern lit prof says that if everyone is to depressed to discuss today, we can leave.
I'm not sure missing class is quite worth handing all control over to the Republicans, even if it is my day to present and moderate.
I'm not looking forward to this, anyway. The secondary material I'm working with is going to be difficult to discuss, and as soon as I read the first of the two books we're doing today, I thought "No one is going to want to talk about this." The prof acknowledged that when I went to go meet with him and said he'd start off with the novel, let it become clear than no one has anything else to say, and then I jump in with the secondary material and the other book.
In response to queries, sorry about the lack of updates. Monday was such a bad, terrible, horrible, miserable day that I didn't even want to complain about it, and I spent much of yesterday getting ready for this presentation (which is also what I'll be doing until class at 4:00). After that, more Joyce. Even if I started reading when I get back from class tonight, pulled an all-nighter, and read consistently until class starts at 12:30 tomorrow, I have serious doubts that I'd finish. I'm already somewhat behind in that reading, and he assigned over 200 pages of Ulysses for us to read between Monday and Thursday. That, for the record, is excessive.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
