Still philosophizing after all these years.

1:00 meeting with Victorian prof went non-traumatically, even if he has thrown more reading at me. After that I headed to the library for yet more research stuff, this time for Southern lit. After that, the paper-reading and reception. I was exhausted when I got back and ended up just holding the cat for awhile (he was lonely, poor thing), until my arm went to sleep (17+ lbs of cat is a lot of cat, you know). I gave in and ordered pizza tonight, for the first time ever, and watched X-Files reruns while eating that (yeah, call me productive). Suppose I'll read a bit of Joyce now.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
