Yet more English department humor: Just received this e-mail from our social co-chairs. There went my social "life" for this weekend . . .:
Hello everyone,
As you may remember, we, your friendly co-social chairs were planning on an evening of wit and whimsy at the bowling alley on Charlotte this Friday night. To our shock and dismay, we discovered that said bowling alley has closed. (Perhaps they heard a rumor that we were coming en masse and couldn’t stand the thought of bowlers who would make jokes about “bowdlerizing” their bowling scores, &c.). At any rate, our fun and festive event for this weekend has been cancelled; we will find another bowling alley and will send out e-mails to alert everyone to a 2nd attempt to make this happen the following weekend. Those of you who have issues about putting your feet into rented bowling shoes (and you know who you are) will want to begin stocking up on Lysol now that you have additional time in which to do so…
