Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.

So far today, I have written two senators, a representative, Colin Powell, been to the library, read Faulkner stuff, and picked up and consumed lunch. Highlight of this, clearly, is writing Strom. I sent the same letter to sens. and reps. I considered changing a line in it from "please give these matters your full consideration, as I am sure you will, and oppose violence against Iraq" to "please consider these matters to the best of your ability" in the case of Strom but refrained, as I was trying to be civil (which took work). Writing Strom, of course, is a waste of electronic breath, but it makes me feel better, so I did it anyway. To prove that point (that it's a waste), I would like to post the "reply" that "Strom" sent me:
Dear Friend,

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
