More from our EGSA social chairs [see bowling message 10/02/02]. Note that it includes jokes about both Derrida and Zoolander. We're an odd bunch:
Hello, all! [Name deleted] tried to send out this message two times over the past two days, and while the system claims she sent it, I don't think that anyone got the email. A letter always arrives at its destination indeed! ;) Therefore, I'm sending out this message again. If you receive this message three times, you have my sincerest apologies.

Our October outing will be on a Saturday afternoon rather than the regularly-scheduled Friday night event. This Friday, [famous literary scholar's name deleted on the assumption that she would not appreciate appearing on my blog] will be here, and we want everyone to attend and enjoy her presentation on that most delightful Victorian author, George Eliot. On Saturday, prepare yourselves for a whimsical afternoon of miniature golf, go-carts (if you feel Nascar-ish), pizza, Ms. Pac Man, and general silliness. For, as the crisp, brisk breezes of fall came stealing across the rolling hills of campus, we asked ourselves, "Whatever should the EGSA do to take advantage of this fabulous weather?" The answer seemed perfectly obvious: putt-putt! And more putt-putt! And video games from the 80s! And bitter grad students in go-carts! Lest ye bowling fans have fear in thy hearts that bowling shall not occur, fear not, my friends, fear not! We shall bowl in November!
Your "really, really, ridiculously good-looking" co-social chairs (that one's for all you "Zoolander" fans out there)

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
