Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.

It's fall break, and do I ever need this time to work. I'm working on a modernism paper which is going slow at the moment, and other stuff looms in the distance, to say nothing of regular assignments. Groan. I often wonder if I'm actually grad school material.
Anyway. I made it out of my apartment tonight to a local bar, apparently a landmark, to see an artist of whom I'd never heard, perform. It was fun, and it got me away from my work. The group of us (first-years) sat in the pews near the stage (yes, actual pews!), all the tables being taken. I discovered that a fellow student is also a Dwight Yoakam fan, and that may just have to come to blows.
Reading material for this weekend is thankfully nineteenth-century-free, thanks to fall break, but it does involve Ulysses.
Further bulletins as events warrant. Or, perhaps I should say, we'll hold another press conference when more information is available (must . . . turn . . . off . . CNN).

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
