I downloaded a pop-up blocker under 48 hours ago, and, in that time, have blocked 74 pop-ups. If you spend as much time nixing these as I do, then you might want to download this pop-up stopper, EMS Free Surfer. It's free and isn't spyware. It's also got a rules list that allows you to enter keywords for sites where you don't want pop-ups blocked (for example, a retail site might have pop-ups that are coupons or special deals, so of course you want to see these; so if you want to see amazon.com pop-ups, you just put "amazon" into your rules list, and any address with that word in it will not be pop-up blocked). You can open the program (icon on toolbar) at any time and see what pop-ups are or have been blocked (this can also be cleared at any time), so you're aware of what you're missing. This was quick and easy-- highly recommended for people who, like me, spend way way way too much time on the internet.

Also, by popular request, Ad-Aware and reference updates. This program finds and removes spyware from your computer. The updates are like antivirus software updates, so you need to keep current with them.
