Still philosophizing after all these years.

We made it an early night, and I'm back in my apartment, now featuring flushing toilet! The film, The Good Girl, was pretty good. I had assumed that Jennifer Aniston had only one character, that person (whose name escapes me) that she plays on Friends (I've seen a whole episode once, and I got a migraine right after. I've always assumed that the two incidents were related), but she was quite good in this. It was darkly funny and pretty interesting (for those who want to hear the detailed, English-grad-group analysis, let me know by e-mail . . . any takers?). After that we had a good, if pricey, dinner (the person who recommended the place has a husband with a real job, so she can afford stuff). I had mushroom pasta, which was very good.
My toilet is randomly running again. That's probably not good. I flushed it experimentally, and it worked, so perhaps I should hope for the best (within my capabilities as a "negative sorter").
My copy of Baudrillard's America arrived today. Expect many funny passages shortly.
We formed a copy collective in Southern lit; someone makes master copies (we're going to do it by whoever's week it is to lead discussion) and leaves them over in the English department, where they have one of those nice copiers that can copy a whole stack at once. And the best part: it's free. I didn't know about the free copies last week, which is why I spent nearly two hours in the reserve room making $20 worth of copies (at eight cents a copy).
Recommendation for any tea-lovers out there: Bigelow (which makes my favorite, Constant Comment, which is kind of orange and spice) also makes an excellent "Cinnamon Stick" variety, which I'm having right now. Dessert, I guess.
I should read Thomas Love Peacock now.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
