Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.

I went to my regular dentist today to have him look at my teeth, as the left uppers were still hurting, and 2 weeks after the extraction seemed excessive for that. The socket where the tooth was pulled has not completely closed yet, hence the pain (he offered me more pain medication, which I can't take). He said that the tooth had to come out sort of sideways, so the empty socket is somewhat on the side of my gum, rather than being in line with the other teeth. He surmised that when the gauze was packed after the surgery, I couldn't get enough pressure on it to force it to heal because there was no real way to bite down on it. He also mentioned that he was glad he hadn't tried to pull it himself. Anyway, I'm back to no chewing or attempts to chew on the left side, and no crispy, crunchy, chewy foods. More ice cream and soup, anyone?

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
