Batty is having a bad day, so here's a bonus funny to perk her up. *pats on back*
Freshperson year, a girl on our hall passed out Valentines with Bible verses on them; she just had the chapter and verse marked down and not the text of the verse itself. Mine said Jeremiah 31:3, so I went to go look it up. However, being more than a little dyslexic when it comes to numbers, I misplaced the colon and read it as Jeremiah 3:13. The verse she'd intended me to read was "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you," which I suppose makes sense for Valentine's Day, in a religious-fanatic-can't-think-outside-Christianity sort of way. However, the verse I accidentally read was "only acknowledge your guilt, that you have rebelled against the Lord your God, and scattered your favors among strangers under every green tree, and have not obeyed my voice, says the Lord." It's not every year that my Valentine cards call me a pagan slut, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. This remains one of my most moving Biblical experiences (and certainly the funniest).

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
