Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.
Wednesday, April 24, 2002
There's been a special request for a little more randomness tonight, and I hate to disappoint my loyal audience. I must confess, my brain is flat-lining (witness the unread article behind me, on my bed) . . . hmm. I'm out of philosophy limericks at the moment . . . Ah! I can tell my very own, very bad, Edward Said joke!
Did you hear that Said took back everything he wrote in Orientalism? Turns out he's decided that the othering by the West was just Occidental.
Here's another (once again, original) one:
Q: What did the doctors ask Hegel after his near-death experience?
A: Is there a Geist at the end of the tunnel?

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
