Philosophy Slam
Still philosophizing after all these years.

Back from seminar, which was, again, a long two hours. For some reason, our discussions of Beloved have been pretty strained, I guess because it's so huge and complex that no one in a class of mainly seniors feels the energy to attack it. I'm going to write my research paper on it, I think (I'm thinking of colonialism and resistance, so if anyone has any brainstorms . . .). We start Blood Meridian (YAY!) Thursday, and he's given us a lovely pile of critical reading to get through by then. This is after the Modern Philosophy Hour (50 minutes; close enough, and we always run over, anyway) at one, which, for once, featured very few puns. It was becoming rapidly obvious that there are going to be some amazingly bad performances on the exam tomorrow. I'm torn between freaking out and thinking that the majority of the class is making this a lot harder than it needs to be. Me being me, I'm going to flip out just to be on the safe side.
Senior picnic is tonight, 6:45. Jen and I are going to swing by and eat, but we both have tests tomorrow, so we won't hang around.

Pascal: The present is never our end. The past and the present are our means, the future alone our end. Thus we never actually live, but hope to live, and since we are always planning how to be happy, it is inevitable that we should never be so.
